Smith+Nephew Unveils TRIGEN™ MAX Tibia Nailing System to Elevate Tibial Fracture Repair

Engineered for enhanced control, strength, and surgical efficiency, the new system delivers ‘next-level nailing’ for trauma surgeons treating complex tibial injuries.

Smith+Nephew’s new TRIGEN™ MAX Tibia Nailing System represents a major leap forward in orthopedic trauma care, introducing several industry-first design features tailored to both surgeons and patients. Most notably, it is the only tibial nailing system to offer side-specific (right and left) nails—an anatomical innovation that ensures optimized screw trajectories, better fragment fixation, and reduced soft tissue irritation. Coupled with low-profile and headless screw options, this system brings a more personalized and refined approach to treating stable and unstable tibial fractures, including shaft injuries.

Engineered with surgical efficiency in mind, the TRIGEN MAX system includes a two-piece modular drop system that improves visibility and usability when employing ancillary instruments, as well as a 12.5 mm channel reamer designed to maintain entry point integrity and protect surrounding soft tissue. The system also integrates 5.0 mm lag screws that compress fractures in a single insertion step—streamlining the procedure and reducing intraoperative complexity. These features together create a surgeon-centric experience that enhances precision, speeds up workflow, and minimizes procedural complications.
