Microsure wins CE mark for microsurgical robot, names new CEO

Microsure announced today that it received CE mark approval for its MUSA-3 surgical robot and named Alex Joseph as CEO.

Joseph succeeds Iwan van Vijfeijken as the Eindhoven, the Netherlands-based company can now bring MUSA-3 into clinical use in Europe. The company said its CE mark reflects its transition from product development to a clinical medical device business.

Microsure designed MUSA-3 to assist surgeons during open super-microsurgical procedures by downscaling and stabilizing hand movements. It supports super-micro-anastomosis on small anatomical structures. These include lymphatic ducts, blood vessels and nerves. The company said it has applications in free flap surgery, lymphatic surgery and peripheral nerve surgery.
