MatOrtho® has achieved a significant milestone with the CE mark approval of its ReCerf® Hip Resurfacing Arthroplasty (HRA), enabling broader access to the world’s first all-ceramic hip resurfacing implant across Europe. This innovative device is made from BIOLOX® delta ceramic, a material that eliminates the complications historically associated with metal-on-metal implants, such as metal ion release and tissue reactions. ReCerf® is the result of over two decades of research and development aimed at improving hip resurfacing outcomes with advanced materials that ensure long-term durability and biocompatibility.
Clinically introduced in 2018 and already in use by more than 1,600 patients globally, ReCerf® preserves more of the patient’s natural bone compared to total hip replacements and supports higher levels of physical activity—making it an ideal option for younger, active patients. The procedure maintains a surgical approach familiar to experienced resurfacing surgeons while offering the advantages of ceramic-on-ceramic articulation. Early clinical data shows strong patient-reported outcomes and a low revision rate, reinforcing confidence in the implant’s long-term performance.
