Tivic adds new vagus nerve stim patent

Tivic Health Systems (Nasdaq:TIVC) filed a patent application for its vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) system.

Tivic has a portfolio of patients for its non-invasive VNS technology, and it aims to expand it with this new application.

In July 2024, the health tech company added three patents granted in the U.S. and Europe, further shoring up its intellectual property portfolio.

The new patent application, No. 63,801,058 filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, protects the therapeutics company’s approaches to personalized stimulation parameters and electrode positioning.

“This patent protects key learnings from our VNS optimization study, which is advancing the science of vagus nerve interventions. In fact, we believe we are moving the needle on what will become the state-of-the art treatment approach by delivering much greater and more consistent therapeutic effects compared to what is currently available,” said Blake Gurfein, the company’s chief scientific officer.
