In the test, a drone carrying ventilator supplies, including breathing circuits and filters, flew about three kilometers from the mainland to the island in three minutes. The same journey by conventional transportation had taken approximately 20 minutes, reducing delivery time by about 85%. The pilot demonstrates how emerging technologies can help extend home healthcare services beyond traditional logistics, particularly for patients living in geographically difficult-to-reach areas.
“Our goal is simple: patients on islands should have the same access to home healthcare support as patients in cities,” said Robert Wonsang Yu, CEO of Yuyu Teijin Medicare and Yuyu Pharma. “We want to combine our nationwide home healthcare network with new technologies such as drones, AI and robotics to improve patients’ quality of life and help them live more independently.”
