The company designed Thunderbeat II to deliver faster, more hemostatic dissection and large vessel transection. It extends to both laparoscopic and open surgery.
Olympus plans to make Thunderbeat II available in Europe beginning this month, then launch in Japan later this year. It plans to begin a global rollout in the U.S. and other regions once it receives the necessary regulatory approvals.
Thunderbeat II delivers faster hemostatic dissection and more secure vessel sealing compared to the previous generation from Olympus. It features a refined probe design that minimizes thermal impact on surrounding tissue. Olympus also added the versatility of three energy modes, including a new ultrasonic setting. This supports surgeons in technically challenging procedures and enables them to adapt to changing clinical conditions without interrupting the procedure to exchange instruments.
